BIRKETT 6 HOUR ENDS IN DISSAPOINTMENT - 30th October 2005

Michael was out again this weekend in his Mallock MK18B competing for the Boss Hoggs team in the Birkett 6 hour relay race at Silverstone. Taking to the circuit for the third stint Michael soon settled into a very fast pace- some 4 seconds faster than all others on the circuit. Disaster struck approximately 30 minutes into his stint however when overtaking two slower cars at the very fast Woodcote Corner, Michael was sandwiched between the two, and forced into the car on the outside, the resulting contact pitching Michael off the circuit and into the wall. The impact destroyed the rear end of the car, with Michael lucky to avoid injury as the floor of the car was ripped off and the Right Rear wheel pushed through the cockpit area. Despite the incident the team were able to carry on, eventually finishing in 6th place.
